Yesterday was the day when Kindle 2 was released by Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com’s CEO. The new version is slimmer (0.36 inches thick), weights less than 10 ounces and has a longer battery lifespan because of it’s larger size and much more. This will enable it to run for approximately half a month without needing a recharge. Another upgrade was in the memory department, which saw an increase to 2GB. This is good news, especially taking into account that the old Kindle had only 256MB. The main feature of Kindle 2 is the ability to actually read the text to you although the voice is artificial. It is also compatible with the first and second Kindle versions via Whispersync, enabling you to share content. Also, Whispersync is intended to be compatible in the future with other wireless reading devices.
Kindle 2 will be available starting with Feb. 24 for $359, the same as the original so pre-order your copy now!
