Toshiba Wipe to securely wipe sensitive user data on SEDs
Good news from Toshiba came today, a new hard-drive equipped with a new technology that increases security on Toshiba Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) . This technology, which will be implemented for the first time on a Toshiba SED, is simply called Wipe because it is able to securely wipe sensitive user data when a system is powered-down or when a SED HDD is removed from the system. The feature can also be used to securely erase user data prior to returning a leased system, system disposal or re-purposing.
Toshiba stated that the “Wipe” technology also ” improves data security and reduces the risk of data leakage associated with document image data stored on copier and printer systems”.
