Pentax K20D and K200D – for professionals

K20D and K200D are the new photo camera proposed by Pentax for professional photographers. Both will be present, as part of the PMA 2008 fair, then they’ll head over to shops all over Europe and U.S.A. For those of you who aren’t to familiarized, the camera come to replace, on the mainstream segment (K20D) and entry-level (K200D), the old DSLRs Pentax K10D, respectively K100D.

Pentax K20D has little new functions, incorporated in a almost identical body case, as the Pentax K10D. The CMOS sensor has a 14.6 MP with 23.4 x 15.6 mm dimensions and disposes of a dust cleaning system, including a “dust alert” notifier. As for the rest, about the same characteristics, except for the Live View function and the slightly bigger LCD display (2.7 inch). Price is still unknown.

The second camera, the K200D is warmly recommended for anyone who’s just made his first steps towards professional photography and wish to progressively and lightly discover the secrets of this art. Anyway, the K200D isn’t at all a bad camera, if we take a look at the specs. It’s got efficient autofocus system (SAFOX VIII), together with the 10.2 MP CMOS sensor, of identical dimensions with the ones of the more precious K20D.

Pentax K200D disposes of a special mechanism, that reduces trembling (Shake Reduction), for clearer image capturing, without any blur effects. This becomes in handy in the case of tele-objects using, in poor lighting conditions, but also helps realizing some great shots, after a plunged exposure.

The camera’s construction is itself very stable and well designed, Pentax K200D being programmed to successfully face rough conditions (rain, dust etc).
