Post filled in: Digital Cameras
Sony HDR-UX20 is a Full HD 1080p hybrid video camera (it records on various storage environments) which, starting with March, can fall into the hands of any amateur film maker, for the mear sum of 100$.
This camera’s dimensions are relatively high, because, beside the 8 GB of internal memory, HDR-UX20 also supports external Memory Stick PRO Duo cards and 8 cm DVDs. It’s great disadvantage is that, despite of multiple supported storage environments, none offers a decent recording time.

On the DVD, in Full HD format, you can record 15 minutes (single layer) and another 25 minutes if you use a dual layer disc. Comments are in vain. On the internal memory you can store about 55 minutes of video capture, that may seem a pleasing for some, but for many it’s not nearly enough. Not even if you choose for external memory you won’t be able to change anything, as the camera supports cards of maximum 8 GB.
Of course, through reducing the resolution and filming quiality, the recording time increases, but from since you have Full HD camera, it’s assumed you’d like to use it as its best.
In conclusion, if you decide on a Sony HDR-UX20, do yourself a favor and supply yourself with as many memory cards as possible, especially if you’re on vacation on a longer period of time.Optic discs aren’t even worth considering.
