Matsushita and Google working on Internet connectable TV

Wed, Jan 9, 2008

Post filled in: Displays

The Japanese producer, Matsushita, is working together with Google on a television set, that will be able to independently access the internet. The TV set will be able to access websites, under Google’s ownership, like YouTube or Picasa and will render the clips/images hosted on them. The TV would first be launched in the US this spring, after which a global release will fallow at the end of the year.

The concept of a television set connected to the internet, si a bit devious. I don’t know what favorable elements, that would bring commercial success, could be found at the Matsushita Japanese concern. I for one see no reason for which I would pay money to own such a TV.
