Intel Atom N550 released today

The Atom N550 dual core processor was released by Intel on Monday. The new processor is to be used in netbooks as the market demands higher performances from these devices. Although netbooks were initially made for internet browsing and few resource demanding applications such as word processing, with time the technology progressed a lot and so the customers expectations from technology gadgets. For improved graphical performance and complex application running Intel had to increase Atom N550′s performances to operate at a frequency of 1.5GHz and a added cache memory to 1MB.
As a response to AMD competition Intel had do increase consistently the performances of Atom processors, currently installed on netbooks. The new Atom dual-core processor will provide a faster application running speed to netbooks and it will give the ability play back 720p video without battery life consumption. Atom’s predecessor Atom 330 released by Intel is now installed on some low-end laptop.
Acer, Asus, Lenovo, Samsung, and Toshiba will launch netbooks that will incorporate Intel’s processor, but more detailed specs, price or availability was not provided yet.
