PS2 hack to emulate fatigue in games and provide more realism

There are a lot of high tech game controllers out today and featured on most popular consoles, like PS3′s and Wifii’s, however what arrived today in my mailbox seems really interesting. Apparently down at Near Future Laboratory have devised an analogy PS2 hack, that efficiently and most of all realistically, simulates fatigue during gameplay. Here’s a simple example from the developers:
So, this is my analog version of a playful Playstation 2 controller for the PSX project — the one that slows the analog part of the controller down over time so, you know..when I’m playing Katamari Damacy it’s a bit more realistic that the Prince gets tired or during GTA, my guy actually gets tired from running away from liquor store heists and stuff.
In short this was done with the help of the Arduino platform, which was wired to the DualShock 2′s analog sticks and programmed to tweak the output signal ever so slightly so that the longer you play, the slower your character moves. For more technical details check out the source, the hack is terrific nonetheless.
