Western Digital has finally redesigned the My Book World Edition network storage drive so that the crucial backup process won’t be longer than a blink of an eye and more importantly, can be done automatically. When changes are made in the files, they will automatically be backed up. The drive is designed for multiple computers in a home network, and this can be clearly seen by the available capacity: either 1 terabyte or 2 terabytes. Thus, the My Book will welcome all the important files one can throw at it without a problem. Also, it’s good to know that both the PC and Mac platforms are supported.
Using the My Book, one can easily access the shared information, such as a media library, from any PC in the network. Videos and music can even be streamed directly to the PCs. But that’s not all, using the integrated Universal Plug and Play, UPnP for short, content can be streamed to gaming consoles, TV sets or digital picture frames. Also if crucial information is needed from afar, the My Book can be accessed from the Internet via a remote access service.
The My Book World Edition network drives can be bought now for $229.99 – the 1TB version and at the end of the month the 2TB will be available for $449.99.
