Today hard drives reached a peak of 2TB of disk space. Good news for consumer and enterprise users alike. Western Digital announced the WD20WEADS drive, also known as the Caviar Green 2.0TB. It has 32MB onboard cache and special power management algorithms. The spindle speed is variable, has only SATA power connector, 3.5-inch form factor. New technologies have been implemented, including StableTrac, securing the motor shaft to reduce vibrations and stabilizing the platters during the read and write operations; IntelliPower, intended to lower power consumption, noise and vibration; NoTouch, so that less wear will take place to the recording head and media because the head will not touch the disk media. The price for WD Caviar Green 2TB will be $299 and will be available at select resellers and distribuitors.
