A team of Hungarian researchers are currently working on a project which, they say, can help us better understand the state of mind of our best friend, the dog. The computer makes the interpretation by analyzing the dog’s barking.

The Hungarian scientists have tested over 14 dogs in 6 different situations, in terms of state of mind, from playing catch, to their reaction to strangers. Out of the 84 cases, the computerized system has correctly assessed the dog’s mindset 43 times, that’s about 50%, while people managed to correctly interpret just 40% of the time.

Now that the problem’s been solved, all we can do now is wait for the researchers to develop a system that enables dogs, in term, to understand us and thus stop crapping on my mom’s carpet.
