Post filled in: Internet, Misc

If you grow weary of Asian prepubescent dudes playing Dragonforce, you’re tired of stand up comedy or whatever, you can finally get tuned in to the exciting world of politician speeches, openings, hearings, ribbon-cuttings and all this kind of stuff. Yeah, really.

The Congres will release its official YouTube channel, in an attempt to replicate the succes president elect Barack Obama has had with internet users.

“This is a big deal because it makes it easy for people to interact with elected officials”, said YouTube spokesperson Aaron Ferstman

“Americans, now more than ever, turn to the Web to get their news,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. “Our YouTube channels serve as a direct line to what’s happening in Congress.” Her office said Pelosi was the first House member to use YouTube, in May 2006.

To facilitate this deal, all sort of Youtube and officials from the White House are adjusting their rules, but still, don’t think it will be similar to C-SPAN or anything, because it won’t because the content will be controled by lawmakers. Still, it’s gonna be even more interesting to see how google will get involved in all this.
