If you are looking for that special compact camera that will bring you the DSLR advantage, the Samsung NX Series is for you. This hybrid represents the best from both worlds, featuring the compact and sleek design of a point-and-shoot camera and the performance and qualityof a DSLR, thus filling the gap.

The NX Series shares with DSLRs an APS-C sized image sensor to produce high quality images thanks to the larger surface, but it doesn’t have a mirror box. Instead, an Electronic Viewfinder is used with increased precision. This move has reduced the bulk of the camera by up to 60% compared with the usual DSLRs. Another advantage of the NX Series is the Live View function so that users can easily frame the shots on the camera’s screen. The NX Series’s first model will debut on the second half of this year.
Samsung estimates that the hybrid digital camera market will exceed 20% the still digital camera market by 2012. With the new NX Series, Samsung plans to become the leader in this market by then. In this respect, a separate company was established to tackle the digital imaging exclusively. This new company is called Samsung Digital Imaging Company.
