Post filled in: News
Today Apple presented to the world a smaller, cheaper Apple Tv Box that is the most recent model of a family of similar products released by Apple. Their goal is to make you “conquer” your Living quarters. These recent news was like shock therapy to all the big companies, as reports show that MIcrosoft, Sony, Amazon and even Google(which has no experience in harware construction as far as home media centers go), are now striving to create their own low-budget, cost-effective TV Media-Center boxes.
News in the coming months:
The coming months will bring a flood of competitor products to the market, most notably Google TV, the giant search engine’s anticipated own Media-Center boxset that is rumoured to be released this fall. Next in line is Amazon, with its new streaming service that would challenge Netflix (Amazon already holds a good online movie service (both Apple TV and amazon offer 99 cent rentals of tv episodes.
Sony, meanwhile, is expected to announce a new music and video subscription service as early as Wednesday, according to the Financial Times. The service would use Sony’s PlayStation game console and other Internet-connected devices to stream content. Finally, Microsoft is rumored to be developing a TV channel for its Xbox 360 console.
If you do not want to pay for the Apple Tv services, I would suggest looking into a good free alternative such as Boxee, which provides good high quality FREE media streaming of (most) of your favorite shows.
