Price tag mistmatch could cost Dell $3,5 million

Post filled in: Displays

Apparently a pricing error at Dell website in Taiwan, advertising Dell 19″ displays at NT$500 (roughly ~15$), instead of its real value which is ten times bigger, caused quite the predicament for the famous tech corporation. In just 8 hours 26,000 orders (out of 140,000 monitors) were made, and it seems Dell can’t cancel them, unless they’re prepared to deal with legal issues with the Taiwanese authorities.
“If Dell fails to respond to this directive properly and concretely, then the [Taiwan government] will consider seeking legal alternatives”
Ouch! Simple math shows that 26,000 orders times 135$, which is the net loss they’ll suffer, adds up to around $3,5 million. That’s quite something for typo, huh? [via Device Mag]
