$480 million paid IBM to buy Unica a marketing automation software developer. The plan is to spend $20 billion on acquisitions by 2015 and it appears IBM sticks to the plan, they recently acquired CoreMetrics and Sterling Commerce for it’s analytic lineup.
Unica’s shares closed Thursday at $9.55, but according to the deal IBM will pay $21 per share in cash.
IBM said it will take Unica’s software to better target marketing efforts and predict consumer behavior. Unica counts Best Buy, eBay and Starwood as customers.
