No smartphones were harmed during the Pwn2Own contest

The Pwn2Own hacking contest concluded and smartphone users, me included, will be relieved to know that no platform (Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android, iPhone and Blackberry OS) succumbed to the exploits thrown at them. Bear in mind though, this doesn’t mean that the vulnerability is not present in each platform, it’s just that it is harder to successfuly exploit it especially because of the lack of processing power and memory available. So this year the $10,000 bounty remains unclaimed though there was a person that had an iPhone exploit ready but the prize seemed too little so it didin’t fire. Let’s hope that next year will stay the same.
