As expected, Apple has officially released the new MacBook Air in the first day of the Macworld exhibit. And as it was presumed, the new toy impresses through slimness and multi-touch system.

MacBook Air

The slimmest zones of the MacBook Air measure only 0.16 inche, while the areas where it’s a bit thicker, it spans at a maximum 0.75 inch. It’s now considered to be the slimmest laptop in the world, thinner then the Toshiba Portege R500, we posted about a few days ago. The multi-touch system is not implemented on the display, as we would all expected, but on the trackpad. Those who had the chance and privilege of testing it, say that the system works very well, however, mentioning it can’t be used (for now) in all programs.

MacBook Air
MacBook Air is equipped with a Intel Core 2 Duo processors at 1.6 or 1.8 GHZ and 2 GB RAM DDR2 at 667 MHz. The Hard-drive can store about 80 GB, 4200 rpm via PATA connectivity. Optionally, you can buy a latest trend SSD, on which you can store up 64 GB of data. Speaking of connectivity, it has Wi-Fi support and bluetooth, a single USB port and Micro-DVI. Battery can hold up to 5 hours, according to Apple.

MacBook Air
As downsides, besides the fact that it has just a USB port, the MacBook doesn’t have Ethernet. Basic components like the hard-drive, RAM memory or battery can’t be replaced by the user. Evidently Apple had all though through and will replace your battery for the modest sum of 129$.

MacBook Air
MacBook Air costs 1.799$ and can be ordered online from the Apple website, this when it’s not down, just like it was the case last night, when it cracked due to the large number of visitors, eager to purchase the new wonder.
