Sharp’s laser will enable 6x, dual-layer Blu-ray laptop recording

Sharp’s latest, the 6x, dual-layer Blu-ray laptop recording, sizing the same 3.3-mm diameter of their predecessor, manages to boost power to 250mW; the semiconductor is called GH04P25A4G. This all means that 6x recording speeds to dual-layer BD media in laptops is very close to becoming a reality. Another great thing is that they’re also announcing a similarly speced 5.6-mm (GH04P25A2G) for desktops. The sample quantity costs ¥50,000 (the approximate of 462 dollars), with the mass production set to start in April.
