Toshiba sued by Fujitsu for copying handset
Mon, Mar 17, 2008

It’s a widely known fact that the Chinese have a passion for copying anything that gets popular. Most of these copies come dirt cheap and are quite similar to its originals, but as you probably know already, the quality lacks. This is the kind of business I’d expect from aobscure backend Beijing factory, not a world electronics power house like Toshiba. For those of you who don’t know the whole story, in short NTT DoCoMo and Fujitsu are suing Tosh for creating and selling its 821T (above right), which, as you can see above, looks an awful lot like Fujitsu’s RakuRaku handset. News has it that Fujitsu officials have requested Softbank Mobile withdraw the 821T from the market as soon as possible, but apparently Toshiba aren’t give up without a fight.

Who knows why Toshiba would want to steal it in the first place? The design is really ugly.
