For some time, rumors abunded regarding Windows Mobile 6.5 but Microsoft confirmed it. WM 6.5 is now live. What does the new platform bring to the table ? A honeycomb-like main menu which comes in tandem with touch capability. In theory, the honeycomb design is better suited for finger use than normal menus. A zoom slider is present in Internet Explorer Mobile which is also touchable and the browser has frequent commands available for easy access. The lock screen has also been modified to allow alerts to bring up your voicemail, texts etc. Fingers can also be used in the home and contacts screens and a stylus is no longer needed in order to activate the menus. Okay, there aren’t so many goodies as we may have hoped (except for those that wanted a new look on the old 6.1 version) and there is also the fact that Microsoft announced that no devices will get the operating system update until the forth quarter of 2009.
